River Rampage 2011

River Rampage is an outdoor adventure program for young people who face significant life challenges. It's run by the City of Phoenix Parks and Recreation Department, with additional support from River of Dreams, a non-profit organization. This summer's trip will take place June 20th through 26th, 2011 and will include 4 days of river rafting on the San Juan River in Utah and 3 days at the Parks and Recreation Department's Camp Colley in northern Arizona. This trip is a model for teaching youth to appreciate diversity so each trip includes young people of various cultures, economic status and ability levels.

Mission Statement

To improve the quality of life for people with disabilities and significant life challenges through the power of outdoor recreation.

River of Dreams, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, provides young people and adults the chance to experience wilderness adventure, regardless of disability, medical illness, or financial need. Ninety percent of contributions are used to provide accessible, supervised outdoor adventures and follow-up support, creating new opportunities and belief in oneself.

River of Dreams was founded in 1990 as a nonprofit organization. Our goal is to ensure the nation's natural environment is now and shall always be the birthright of all citizens, regardless of disability, medical illness or other life challenges. River of Dreams serve teens and adults through two unique high quality programs: Daring Adventurers, and River Rampage.

-Partnership-

The City Council recently approved a budget that called for the closing of Camp Colley as well as the elimination of the Daring Adventures and River Rampage programs.  However, due to the support we have from two non-profit foundations, the Camp Colley Foundation and River of Dreams, we will be offering a limited camp program, one river trip, and some Daring Adventures programs.
